The new MAD-Aid DOT community centre on the Isle of Wight was officially opened on Friday - and if you hire the community room, the money goes to MAD-Aid to help Moldovans and Ukrainians in need.

The opening of the new community facilities in East Cowes was attended by around 70 people.

The East Cowes-based charity, which helps Moldovans and Ukrainians in need, was given permission to use the old post office and former library in 11 York Avenue as a sorting office for donations when the Ukrainian conflict started in February.

Since then the charity has worked hard with East Cowes Town Council and the Isle of Wight Council to develop 11 York Avenue into a useful facility for the community and on Friday, visitors were welcomed into the new community room.

The community room is now available to hire for birthday parties, club meetings, conferences, community events, fitness classes, coffee mornings and much more.

It's a nice bright space with kitchen facilities, with hire starting from £15 per hour and bookings now available.

To book, call 01983 200648 or email: info@mad-aid.org.uk

The money raised goes back to MAD-Aid and the charity is also using the rest of the building - it has already established a pop-up shop upstairs to help Ukrainians who have recently arrived in the UK.
