The opening concert on October 28 was given by Welsh harpist, Eira Lynn Jones and the Labyrinth Harp Ensemble.

Eira then successfully conducted a harp ensemble made up of workshop members, some of them having never performed before.

Tristan Le Govic from Brittany gave a concert on Saturday, October 29, featuring modern Breton rhythms and harmony.

The harp festival then welcomed Aisling Lyons from County Clare on Sunday, October 30, who offered a more traditional set including some concertina.

On Monday, October 31, there were concerts from Fran Barsby and Ana Crisman.  Ana had travelled from Andalusia to entertain the audience with her flamenco-style harp, capturing the rhythms from Spain.

On Tuesday, November 1, Alexander Ryder presented a programme from the French harpist Micheline Kahn followed in the evening by the wonderful international Welsh harpist Catrin Finch, who was royal harpist to The Prince of Wales in her early 20s.

Merlynna Johnson, who is one of the team behind the harp festival, said: "Our promoter, Vic King, was so happy to have secured Catrin to come to the Island to play for us.

"Her programme ranged from Debussy's Clair de Lune through Piazollas tangos and the serenity of Welsh folk tunes.

"We have to thank Ryde Methodist Church in Garfield Road for allowing us to use their facilities.  Also the harp makers and sellers in the harp showroom.

Merlynna added: "Thanks also go to The United Kingdom Harp Association who sponsored the Performance Platform supporting young musicians, Huw Boucher and Heather Brooks.

"Lastly, all the members of the committee who work hard through the year to make this happen.  We look forward to our tenth anniversary next year."
