A wind gust of over 110mph hit the Isle of Wight overnight, as Storm Claudio swept across the south coast.

The Met Office had warned of strong winds and later added a rain warning, due to the impending bad weather.

This morning, some cross-Solent routes and Island Line trains have been suspended, due to the wind and its impact.

The voluntary Needles Coastwatch organisation recorded a strongest gust of 96 knots, which is 110.75mph, at around midnight.
