A HEATING engineer convicted of sending a threatening message, was warned it was his final chance to comply with probation or face the probability of being imprisoned.
Tyrone Barry, of Lower Furlongs, Brading, admitted to two charges of failing to comply with the requirements of a probation order, by failing to turn up for unpaid work between August 30 and September 6, then between September 13 and 20.
The 12-month probation order included Barry having to complete 100 hours' unpaid work.
Barry, 38, was ordered to do seven hours of litter picking per week, but he failed to complete the hours on the dates stated, said Dawn Young, of the Probation Service, at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
So far, Barry has completed 41 hours and has notched up three 'unacceptable absences', with just over a month remaining on the order.
Unrepresented, Barry said he had struggled with a leg injury and was unable to do the work at times.
Magistrates fined Barry £60, with £60 costs, and warned him he had one final chance to complete the unpaid work, or face the prospect of being jailed.
The bench extended Barry's probation order by six months to allow him additional time to complete the order.
