AN ISLE of Wight woman celebrated her 100th birthday earlier this week and enjoyed a party with 70 guests to celebrate her life.

Grace Davison Nee Snow, from Whippingham, celebrated her birthday on Monday (October 10).

After leaving school at 14, Grace worked as a parlour maid before signing up for the Royal Woman’s Naval Service at 18, serving both Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mother during her 15 years of service.

Leaving the Navy to marry Tony Davison, a chief in the Navy, she moved back to the Island to have her two daughters, Laura and Luie.

Grace went on to work as a dinner lady and a lollypop lady at Whippingham School and spent time at the Isle of Wight Heritage Society and on hospital radio.

She spent time as the president of Osborne Women's Institute and later served as secretary, winning awards for her reports to the papers.

Grace moved on to the drama group, writing several plays herself and even starring as Queen Victoria.

Always an active member of her community, Grace enjoys social interaction and was delighted to see and chat with the 70 guests at her party in Whippingham County Hall on Saturday (October 8).

Many of the guests had travelled a long way to be there and celebrate her life.
At her birthday celebrations, there were homemade treats and a magician to keep guests entertained.

On Monday, Grace went out for a meal at Bluebells Cafe at Briddlesford Farm.

She has received 53 birthday cards and counting and was looking forward to receiving a card from the Queen but is now awaiting a card from King Charles.

Grace still lives in her home of 60 years and loves a laugh and a chat.
