THE Isle of Wight will welcome the arrival of a new authentic Filipino restaurant in Newport this weekend.

Kusina RestoBar, found at the former Smokehouse Burger Co on Holyrood Street, will open on Saturday (October 8) but is fully booked until the following week.

The restaurant will feature Filipino favourites, including pork sisig, chicken pork adobo, bistek tagalog, lechon manok, grilled chicken thigh (Ilonggo style) and bicol express.

Kusina, which is the Filipino word for kitchen, will also launch its own cocktails, as well as a selection of wines and bubbly.

On Sunday (October 9), the restaurant will open from 8.30am to 3pm, introducing its breakfast platter.

Kusina will post its ‘daily specials’ every week on its Facebook page.

There will also be karaoke nights and open mic events, with prizes and surprises, says the restaurant.

Between October 25 – 30, the restaurant will be celebrating the Mascara Festival, with its speciality of that week being Bacolod classic dishes.

The restaurant is also planning special events, including an intimate music and dinner evening with actor, director and musician Jeffery Hidalgo, in November.
