A POPULAR ride will say its final farewell at Blackgang Chine later this month.

The park has announced iconic cliff-top rollercoaster, Cliffhanger, will be leaving the site at the end of the season.

The ride arrived in 2005 and its successful reception paved the way for a variety of additional attractions.

A new ride will take its place in 2023, ready for blackgang's 180th anniversary celebrations.

"Details will be coming very soon, but we can assure everyone it’ll have your heads spinning just at the sight of it," said a spokesperson for the attraction.

"We can’t wait to showcase this next year."

In a statement from Blackgang Chine, parks director, Dominic Wray, said: "Cliffhanger has thrilled guests for almost 20 years, providing a new level of themed attraction that the Island had never seen before its arrival.

"We’ve loved watching you all experience the stunning views from every angle that Cliffhanger has had to offer, and we hope you all get the opportunity to experience the breath-taking scenery one last time before it leaves the park at the end of the season."

As a ‘thank you’ for the love Cliffhanger has received over the years, the park is offering up the chance for 24 frequent visitor pass holders to be the final riders on the last day of the season, and get hold of an exclusive Cliffhanger t-shirt.

Head on over to Blackgang Chine’s Facebook page to be in with a chance of getting hold of one.
