“THE new energy price cap has caused confusion to many people, who believe the
maximum they will pay is £2,500."

The price cap and the energy crisis are just some of the subjects people can get help with at an event in Newport.

Winter is Coming is being held at the Riverside Centre on Newport Quay, on Thursday, October 13, from 9.30am to 1.30pm.

There will also be an online event via Facebook in the afternoon.

It's a free event to help people get prepared for winter during the current energy crisis.

Organisers have pulled together a diverse range of organisations, with expertise in energy and water efficiency, money matters, debt, benefits, allowances and grants.

Paul Savill of IW Citizens Advice said: “In the wake of the energy crises and high inflation, Islehelp partners and other agencies are getting together to offer help and guidance.”

Lisa Beaney, of the IW Footprint Trust, said: “The new energy price cap has caused confusion to many people, who believe the maximum they will pay is £2,500.

"This however, is based on an average use. Those in poorly insulated homes, with old heating systems or heating by electricity will pay substantially more.”
