Food influences from the Far East to the south coast of England will be on the menu at Se7en, the Royal Hotel in Ventnor's new dining experience, which is opening next month.

From lamb marrow to hand-dived scallops and maple-bacon ice cream, high quality ingredients are being served up to diners in a seven-course tasting menu.

Isle of Wight citrus fruits and Briddlesford cheese are among the local ingredients being used.

The Royal describes Se7en as a new contemporary dining experience for discerning foodies looking for the extraordinary.

It says head chef Matt Egan, along with sous chef Jacob Gough, are breaking the mould of gastronomic expectations with a carefully curated tasting menu that will appeal to food enthusiasts and dining connoisseurs, making Se7en the newest ‘go to’ foodie experience on the Island.

To further enhance the gastronomic evening, Se7en is offering 'beautifully paired' wines to complement each dish.

These have been specially sourced by The Royal’s front of house manager, Stefan Dobre.

Matt Egan said: “This is a real step-change for The Royal, and I’m excited about the prospect of people coming to taste our incredible food that is enticing, sleek, and vibrant.

"Every aspect of Se7en fulfils my personal philosophy that ‘food has no rules’.”

Chris Prew, director of The Royal, said: “The Royal is renowned for its high-quality service and food, with many people coming to us for a fine dining experience in our main Geranium Restaurant.

"However, Se7en allows us to offer something unique and completely new to our dinner guests.

"It’s a privilege to work with Matt Egan and the team that are always looking at new opportunities with great enthusiasm, and outstanding passion for their art.”

Se7en will open to residents and non-residents, on Friday, October 14, and Saturday, October 15, and will be on Friday and Saturday evenings from then on.
