ONE of the world's top T-Rex tribute acts — T-Rextasy — have been forced to cancel their show on the Isle of Wight at the last minute after the lead singer suffered a horrific eye injury.

The show's promoters cancelled tonight's (Saturday) show at Shanklin Theatre, which has been a regular draw for legions of T-rex fans across the Isle of Wight, after learning singer Danielz, who performs the role of Marc Bolan, had suffered a detached retina.

On social media, promoters told ticket holders refunds would be made once they had been contacted, and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

On Shanklin Theatre's website, they have described the reason for the cancellation is due to illness.

The theatre's booking manager, Vic Farrow, received a message at around midnight last night and took steps to cancel the show immediately.

He said: "It was terrible news. We understand the singer had an operation on his eye and was back performing, but then something happened yesterday (Friday) and he could not see out of his eye.

"We don't really know the extent of the problem, but we all wish him the very best and we hope he returns to perform at Shanklin in the not-too-distant future.

"We were expecting more than 300 to come along to the show. It is not the first time we've had a last minute cancellation. It's just one of those very unfortunate things."

T-Rextasy's management added their own statement, saying: "Due to ill health, tonight's T-Rextasy show must, very regrettably, be cancelled.

"A sudden medical condition has left the band unable to perform. Please accept their apology and we are sorry for the disappointment.

"We wish Danielz the best and what should be a speedy recovery."
