An Isle of Wight photographer, who took a photo of Example on stage at the Isle of Wight Festival, is in the running in the British Photography Awards.

Ryde's David Rutherford snapped an amazing image of the singer, backlit by a spotlight, in the festival's Big Top.

It has now been listed in the events category of the competition.

David told the Isle of Wight County Press: "After the craziness that has been the past few years with Covid-19 my intention of this image was to capture the feeling of togetherness.

"I was fortunate enough to have stage access for the entire set, so chose my moment before heading up front and timing this image."

He said it is 'an honour' to be included, describing his work as mainly live music based.

He said: "Being alongside photographers I’ve looked up to for a long time feels a little surreal, but very exciting."
