A SPECIAL service marking the death of Her Majesty the Queen will be held in Newport Minster this weekend, with Islanders invited to pay their respects to the late monarch.

The commemoration service, which takes place on the eve of the State Funeral, will reflect upon the life and work of the Queen and will include prayers for both her and the Royal Family.

Led by the Acting Archdeacon of the Isle of Wight, Rev Allie Kerr, the service will host invited local dignitaries, including the Island’s Lord Lieutenant Susie Sheldon.

The service will also feature the choirs of the parish of Newport and Carisbrooke and the Isle of Wight Cantata Choir.
