Isle of Wight police have been called to Sandown's Ocean View hotel this evening (Sunday), according to reports.

A video, shared on social media today, showed what appeared to be ongoing vandalism at the derelict building, on a busy afternoon.

As a crowd gathers outside, windows on the top floor are smashed and glass falls into the car park below.

It was shared on Facebook group Sandown Hub.

In July, the owners of the hotel were told to tidy it up, when Isle of Wight Magistrates threw out an appeal against an enforcement notice.

Phoenix Commercial Property Developments (PCPD) had been fighting the notice issued to them by the Isle of Wight Council earlier this year — to clean up the dilapidated eyesore on Sandown Esplanade and High Street.

In 2021, fire swept through the building, prompting calls from the community for action to be taken.
