Strike action by RMT Union, on September 15 and 17, due to impact mainland train travel has been called off, following the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II, along with today's strike action by postal workers on the Isle of Wight.

The CWU, which represents Royal Mail staff, said: "Following the very sad news of the passing of the Queen and out of respect for her service to the country and her family, the union has decided to call off Friday's planned strike action."

Meanwhile, the RMT Union's Mick Lynch said: "[We join] the whole nation in paying its respects to Queen Elizabeth.

"The planned railway strike action on 15 and 17 September is suspended.

"We express our deepest condolences to her family, friends and the country."
