Imagine watching a play where one of the actors is drunk? That is the experience coming soon to the Isle of Wight.

Macbeth is one of the most famous works of William Shakespeare.

It is a dramatic epic about greed and ambition.

Now imagine it being performed by a rotating cast, one of whom is completely inebriated.

That is the goal of the Sh!t Faced Shakespeare company, who are touring their eccentric take on theatre around the country, stopping off at Shanklin Theatre along the way.

If you are looking for a very different trip to the theatre, this may be the perfect new experience.

Described as “Theatre for people who hate theatre” by the Sunday Times, the show will be a less serious take on the Shakespeare classic.

It is described as a side-splitting combination of a faithful adaptation of Macbeth, complete with one worse-for-wear cast member.

Every night before the show, one actor is given a few hours to “wet the whistle” by consuming as much alcohol as they can get their hands on.

The show then must go on as the cast attempt to complete the show alongside their tipsy teammate.
