A RYDE road has been closed this evening (Saturday, August 13) due to police activity.
The County Press has been told of a large police presence, including police vans and two unmarked cars, on Melville Street.
Owing to the police activity, Southern Vectis routes four and nine will use George Street to Cross Street until Melville Street is clear.
Hampshire Constabulary has been contacted for a statement.
UPDATE: The road has now been reopened.
