During the past decade, East Cowes-based MAD-Aid has recycled and transported tonnes of aid, built a day-care facility for children with disabilities in Moldova, and created a care home and a hydrotherapy pool there too.

When the conflict in Ukraine started earlier this year, MAD-Aid channelled its logistical experience of the past ten years to help the people in Ukraine and the refugees fleeing to Moldova and the UK.

So far, more than 20 articulated lorries of aid have been sent to the Ukraine and Moldova — with around two-thirds of those being directly from the Isle of Wight.

Victoria Dunford, founder of MAD-Aid, said they were grateful to Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club for allowing the charity to use its lovely facilities during Cowes Week.

Other events to raise money and awareness for the charity are planned in the near future — including a presentation about the Ukrainian work in September.
