From 10.30am, there will be several free events and entertainment, through into the evening, until 10pm, as the town celebrates its 169th event.

Local stall holders will offer visitors a wide range of food and drinks, including Pimm’s, candyfloss, BBQ food, ice creams and popcorn, as well as gifts.

Shore sports for children will be held on the sand from 1.30pm.

Youngsters up to the age of 15 can get involved in tug of war, relays, sack races, egg and spoon races, three-legged races and wheelbarrow races – as well as a race for under fours and an event for adults.

The Regatta Queen, for women aged over 16, will be judged from 3pm, as will the Knobbly Knees competition.

The evening’s entertainment begins at 7pm, featuring DJs with party games, giveaways and more.

The Regatta’s grand firework display will get underway at 9.30pm.
