ONE of the most popular events on the Isle of Wight calendar — Chale Show came back in style after the pandemic break.

A huge crowd of thousands were happy to support it, and the glorious weather was an added bonus.

Entertainment centred around the main arena, where Ollie Phillips' Equine Display galloped in at the last minute to save the day when the contracted horse show had to pull out due to illness.

The Spanish dressage was brilliantly executed and the daring trick riding drew gasps of delight from onlookers.

Extreme Bike Battles was equally as exciting and proved a popular draw.

Also in the arena were children's races, magic by Randini, and a display of tractors and engines, among other entertainments.

Over at the music stage there was a fantastic line up of acts and huge support from the crowd, who were happy to nestle into the haybales for the afternoon in the 'festival corner'.

Children were kept amused with fairground rides, and various animals courtesy of the Isle of Wight Goat Club, Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary, and Haven Falconry.

The stalls included local charities and organisations, antiques, crafts and sweet and savoury treats — with many appearing to do a roaring trade.

One thing that stands Chale Show apart from the rest is the giant horticultural marquee where talented bakers, growers and crafters vie for certificates and cups.

The entries were breathtaking in their originality and detail.

Always successful, John Pearce and Keith Brewer were among the cup winners. Results to follow.

Chale Show raises money for local charities, many of whom were also represented at the show.
