Bob Seely waxes lyrically about, ‘Steps taken to help with cost of living crisis’ (CP online, 02-08-22).

Band A-D households will receive £150 council tax rebate, and we will all apparently get £400 off our electricity bills later this year.

May I respectfully point out average household energy bills are set to rise to around £4,000 a year, Bob.

It was Kwai Kwarteng, Priti Patel, Dominic Raab, Chris Skidmore and Liz Truss who in their book, ‘Britannia unchained’, stated British workers were among ‘the worse idlers in the world’.

So clearly all we need do is work that little bit harder to keep warm I guess.

Either that, or join the Conservative Party and the chosen few who used the pandemic as a golden opportunity to stripped the magic money tree bare with dodgy PPE contracts, while no doubt remembering to drop the Conservative Party a few quid in donations and put their names forward for a peerage.

No doubt they will all be burning fivers to keep warm through next winter.

To cap it all, you then have the audacity to sign off saying: "Have a good August." Are you for real, or taking the mickey, Bob?
