A NEWPORT care home has been celebrating its ‘GOOD’ rating following a recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.
Barchester Healthcare's Orchard House, on Fairlee Road, passed the CQC inspection and was praised for being a responsible, safe, effective, caring and well-led service.
The inspection activity started on June 28 and ended on July 6.
The report states that the care home is observing a high-quality, person-centred culture within the service and staff spoke with people in a kind and caring way.
People were actively involved in making decisions about their care and were asked for their views about all aspects of the service, says the report.
A staff member told inspectors: “I love working here; looking after the residents, helping them and giving them what they need.”
Residents and relatives told CQC they felt safe and were happy with their care.
In the report, a resident told inspectors: “I feel safe, it’s very nice here, and I am well looked after.”
Kim Fleming, general manager at Orchard House, said: “I am so proud of all we’ve achieved at Orchard House.
“This is a whole team result, as we work together for the benefit of our residents, no matter what our role, and are committed to a whole home approach.”
In celebration of the rating and to thank each team member for their contributions to the home, Barchester will award each team member a £100 gift voucher in appreciation of their hard work.
