A MAIN Shanklin road remains closed this evening (Thursday, July 4), following its closure for repairs earlier today.
Victoria Avenue, which leads from Whiteley Bank to the top of Shanklin High Street, remains closed while emergency gas repairs take place.
The road will remain closed until further notice, says Southern Vectis.
The Island bus service's route two, between Newport, Shanklin and Ryde, is diverting between Whiteley Bank and Shanklin Co-op, where it will resume its normal route.
The diversion operates in both directions.
Update Friday 7.20pm: The road has now reopened
