Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service crews attended the scene.
FIREFIGHTERS spent an hour at Puckpool Park last night, putting out a fire in the battery tunnel.
Ryde and Sandown firefighters were called out 7.49pm and found smoke issuing from the tunnel.
The fire was extinguished by firefighters in breathing apparatus using hose reel jets.
The tunnel system was searched for further signs of fire before the premises was secured and police informed.
The crews left the scene following the stop message at 8.57pm.
