AN ISLE of Wight teen is due to be sentenced for a staggering 17 offences — among them, knife threats and assaults.

The 16-year-old girl, who cannot be identified on account of her age, faced a long list of charges when she appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates via video link on Friday.

She was charged with two counts of threatening a mental health nurse with a knife, on July 21, in Newport.

She also faced eight counts of assault by beating — seven against emergency workers — six counts of criminal damage, and a single count of theft from a shop.

The offences relate to dates between July 21 and July 25.

Of the criminal damage charges, included damage caused to Matalan's shop window, a youth service door, and for damaging plant pots and a car at Morrisons supermarket. The remainder were for smashing car windows in Newport.

The youth, who has no previous convictions, admitted every offence, and is due to be sentenced on August 31.

Barry Arnett, defending, described her case as very complex, and a pre-sentence report was ordered.

He said the girl was a very troubled young individual who had been in and out of secure accommodation since she was 13.
