FESTIVAL of Heroes could return, as organisers consider other options, following yesterday's announcement (Sunday, July 24) that the event would not be coming back.

Yesterday saw the return of the popular family day out, Festival of Heroes, however, organisers later described the event as a victim of its own success.

Posting on its Facebook page, organisers apologised to those who got caught up in the traffic at the site during the event.

Despite 'months of planning', with one-way road systems in place, lots of parking attendants and fields to park in, people think not enough was done, the post reads.

Organisers said: "We seem to be a victim of our own success.

"We want to thank everyone who has attended our event over the past few years.

"But, unfortunately, we have decided to hang up our capes and end on a huge high after this year's event."

Festival of Heroes, which raises money for Daisy Chains IW, thanked its hard-working characters, businesses, volunteers, friends, and Brading Roman Villa, who allow the event to use its land and facilities.

Later, organisers hinted that a return could be possible, if 'any other option' can be found.

Posting on the event's Facebook page, they said: "The decision was not based solely on traffic or parking, we need more volunteers, we need to set up and break manpower, and, of course, there is always the risk of bad weather and it being called off at short notice.

"When we have finished breaking the site, we'll have a really good think as to if there is any other option for us."
