A MUSICAL that spins a modern twist on Brothers Grimm fairytales is coming to Shanklin Theatre.

Youth theatre group Curtain Call Creative are taking on Stephen Sondheim's epic Into the Woods next Tuesday and Wednesday.

The students have undertaken a mammoth journey to bring the classic to life, with high production values.

It follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel, and ties them together into a new story.

The story follows a baker and his wife who wish to have a child, Cinderella who wishes to attend the King's Festival, and Jack who wishes his cow would give milk.

When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse, they set off on a journey to break the curse.

Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them.

Presented with a live orchestra, professional costumes and a new set design the production will show some of the very best Island talent.
