ENGLISH and Moldovan guests flocked to the MAD-Aid Cocktail Party at Combley Farm, Downend, Isle of Wight last Saturday (July 9).

The event marked the tenth anniversary of the birth of the charity and featured food, cocktails from the MAD-Aid Horsebox Bar, a bouncy castle and children’s activities, a raffle, a charity auction, and a display by Haven Falconry.

There was music by international artists, including Moldovan-born singing sensation Cleopatra Stratan, who was the youngest paid artist in the world, at the age of three.

She is also included in Guinness Book of World Records for performing a live concert and recording an album at that age.

Also performing at the cocktail party were Romanian star Edward Sanda, Moldovan singers Ion and Ruxanda Razza, and violinist Iurie Sala.

Oxana Borta, deputy ambassador for Moldova, praised the efforts of Victoria Dunford, BEM, who founded East Cowes-based charity MAD-Aid, which helps vulnerable people in Moldova, as well as Ukrainian refugees.

Many businesses provided services or donated raffle or auction items and the amount raised for the charity is still being counted.

You can see more about the charity's latest projects on the MAD-Aid Facebook page.

MAD-Aid volunteers have been running a number of fundraising events in recent months and these are often advertised on the Isle of Wight community help for the Ukraine Facebook page.

A further MAD-Aid fundraising event is planned for September.
