The world of esports is getting bigger...with Fortnite, Clash of Clans and many others being huge around the globe.

Now the Isle of Wight College is dipping its toe in the water with a new course.

Its new esport course offers the opportunity to learn every angle of the industry to build yourself a career in a booming sector.

The college says it is keen to convey to parents and guardians that esports is a professional course with high-earning career potential attached.

The course blends elements of business, digital and sports skills to equip learners with everything they need to move forward into the industry.

Careers in this sector include fitness trainer, nutritionist business manager, event manager, professional esports player, referee, content creator and other digital and sports careers.

Fortnite, Clash of Clans and hopefully FIFA will be incorporated into the course.

Ben Sheridan, assistant principal for curriculum said:

“The UK esports economy has grown over 20 per cent year on year since 2019 and we feel it is the right time to introduce this option without delay.

"Work has begun on state-of-the-art facilities including dedicated gaming stations with professional gaming chairs, technology and overall learning environment.

"We are excited to welcome the first year to use these new facilities in September 2022.”

This course has only just launched for September 2022 and is expected to be incredibly popular.
