Daryll Pitcher, the Isle of Wight councillor facing two charges of rape and one of indecent assault is due in court today.

It will be a first appearance before Isle of Wight magistrates.

But what do we know of his background.

This is the second of his two terms on the Isle of Wight Council, this time standing for the Vectis Party, which he founded.

The first time he stood it was under the UKIP banner, also standing for the party on the mainland in a General Election.

He is currently chair of the council's licensing committee.

Mr Pitcher is also a Wootton Bridge parish councillor and has campaigned against the gravel extraction plan for the village.

He is also involved with the Royal British Legion, being an Isle of Wight County Committee Member and a Cowes branch committee member, according to his information held by the Isle of Wight Council.

The information states he is also a member of the Milestone Society (Isle of Wight Regional Rep).
