Motorbike rider airlifted to hospital after Ventnor crash
A motorcyclist has been air lifted to Southampton General Hospital, from the Isle of Wight, after a crash in Ventnor this morning (Saturday).
Police were called, at 6.20am, to Ocean View Road, close to its junction with Newport Road and Gill's Cliff Road.
Hampshire Constabulary says a motorbike was the only vehicle involved.
The road remained closed for a number hours - to both vehicles and pedestrians - but it has now reopened.
For a time, Southern Vectis' route 3 buses were unable to serve Godshill, Wroxall or Upper Ventnor and were diverting via Whitwell and Lower Gills Cliff Road, between Rookley and Ventnor.
