CAR PARTS were stolen from vehicles on the forecourt of an accident repair and car sales garage near Ryde over the weekend (Saturday 18 and Sunday 19).

Catalytic converters have been stolen from Ashey Road Garage's sales cars.

A catalytic converter is an exhaust emission control device that converts toxic gases and pollutants in exhaust gas into less-toxic pollutants - and is typically made up of three precious metals: platinum, palladium and rhodium.

A spokesperson from Ashey Road Garage said: "Just a heads up that we have had catalytic converters stolen from our sales cars on the forecourt over the weekend so keep your eyes peeled.

"If anyone saw anything suspicious over the weekend at our site, any information would be greatly appreciated."

Catalytic converters can cost more than £800 to replace, depending on the car, and if the vehicle was damaged during the theft it could cost more than £1000.
