Red Funnel's 7.30am Isle of Wight ferry was running an hour late this morning (Tuesday), and sailings over the next few hours will be the same.

The service, between East Cowes and Southampton, was beset by delays yesterday and into the night, leaving departing Isle of Wight Festival-goers to sit in long queues, or while away the hours on East Cowes seafront.

This morning, problems appear to be continuing, with delays of 60 minutes being reported.

On Festival Monday, a stacking system is used if there are problems, allowing festival traffic to queue in Beatrice Avenue, East Cowes, however roads are back to normal today.

Red Funnel has apologised, but has not given a reason for today's delays.

Meanwhile, Wightlink services appear to have returned to their normal times after a medical emergency caused a backlog of delays yesterday.
