FIREFIGHTERS have rescued one person from a bungalow fire near Cowes this afternoon (Monday, June 20).

Newport, Ryde and Shanklin fire crews were called to the property on Newport Road in Northwood, between Aldi and the Gulf Fuel Station, at 3.10pm.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued the occupant, who was treated for smoke inhalation and taken onto hospital by paramedics.
Crews are tackling the kitchen fire with hose reels, jets and an aerial ladder, as well as using ventilation fans for smoke clearance.
Gas and electrics were isolated prior to the stop message at 4.12pm.
Newport Road has been closed in both directions.
