ON THE gloriously sunny first day of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, and coinciding with the Bembridge Jubilee Street Fair festivities, classic cars gathered again, possibly for the last time, in the garden of the late Joy Green.

Joy had held this popular gathering of historic vehicles every year for many years until the Covid pandemic.

Joy died in her 100th year, and it was decided to open her garden to classic cars one last time in her memory.

Joy’s own beloved 1936 Morris 8 Tourer was on show, displaying its many rosettes and awards received over the years, and it was felt that Joy would have been thrilled by the gathering.

Car owners and members of the public visiting the street fair were all warmly welcomed and proceeds were donated to Mountbatten.

It was a fitting tribute to a woman who, not only was a keen supporter and one of the longest serving members of the Vectis Historic Vehicle Club, loved seeing classic cars in her garden.
