REFUGEES and the homeless will benefit from the aftermath of the Isle of Wight Festival thanks to a volunteer salvage team.

Any tents and sleeping bags left behind after the four-day event this month will be saved for Herts for Refugees, a charity that provides help for those who need it both in the UK and abroad.

Anyone who wants to help is welcome to apply.

Last year, a huge team effort led to the collection of 320 tents and 550 sleeping bags for those less fortunate.

Charlotte Buttery, who lives on the Island, would like to hear from anyone who can lend a hand this year.

She has previously seen the tents be taken over to refugees in Dunkirk and Calais.

For more information, contact Charlotte on char_kiz@yahoo.co.uk.

Her key message, of course, is take your tent and rubbish home with you - ideally the site would not need clearing.

Another organisation, Eco Warriorz, is also looking for volunteers.
