A hovercraft will fly through The Solent to the Isle of Wight's iconic Needles to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, on Friday, June 3.

The 70-mile flypast will last two hours, also taking in Osborne Bay, Cowes, Ryde, Seaview and Bembridge.

Neil Chapman, managing director of Hovertravel, said: "The hovercraft [will] fly west from our base at Ryde to pass the Needles, before looping back east to speed past Hayling Island. It is Hovertravel’s gesture of gratitude to Her Majesty for her 70 years of service to the country."

The Isle of Wight ferry operator has launched a competition to give away 70 day return tickets for the most patriotic photos of its Platinum Jubilee Fly Past. 

On Friday, June 3, see it from:

Osborne Bay (12:00 - 12:20)

East Cowes (12:00 - 12:20)

West Cowes (12:05 - 12:25)

Yarmouth (12:15 - 12:40)

The Needles (12:25 - 12:45)

Lymington (12:40 - 13:00)

Lee on Solent (12:50 - 13:20)

Ryde (13:00 - 13:40)

Seaview (13:15 - 13:50)

Bembridge (13:15 - 13:50)

Hayling Island (13:30-14:00)

South Parade (13:35 - 14:10)

Hovertravel will also be marking the Platinum Jubilee weekend by giving out free commemorative postcards to customers.

And it will take part in the Ships Salute, on Saturday, June 4, at midday.
