BRADING Town FC — believed to be the world's oldest football club in existence — celebrates its 150th anniversary this year and will be holding a special reunion event this week as part of it.

All 'Romans' players — past and present — including those who played for opposing teams, as well as managers, coaches, committee members, volunteers, sponsors and fans are invited to the clubhouse for a night of nostalgia at the Peter Henry Ground, Church Lane, on Friday, from 7pm.

For Brading, who won the Isle of Wight Memorial Cup for the first time in 35 years a few weeks ago, was actually founded in 1871, but Covid-19 lockdowns scuppered their plans to hold a series of 150th year celebratory events, so were put on ice until this year.

"People are very welcome to come along and share their stories and reminisce over the years they had at our great club," said Brading manager, Steve Lawton, one of the hosts.
