AN ISLE of Wight quartet released their new single ‘Rarely Been So Long’ today (Friday, May 27), ahead of their second EP, available at the end of June.

The band, As We Leave, writes, produces and records all their material themselves, releasing their debut EP, ‘Everything to a Point’, back in 2020.

Since then, the four-piece has soaked in acclaim for their well-crafted songs that reflect the easy-going nature of its members.

The single serves as a taste of what is to come from the Island band’s second EP ‘Stop Making Plans’, which will be out June 26.

Speaking about their new single, the band said: “Rarely Been So Long is a playful tongue in cheek nod to cynicism and comic disillusionment.

“We wanted the song to conjure up elements of Bulgakov’s absurdities, but instead of the paranoia of Stalin’s 30’s era Moscow, we have the less dangerous panorama of a backwards Victorian Island, stuck in limbo.”
