A man was moved on by police investigating a report of inappropriate comments made to girls in Ryde.

Hampshire Constabulary is trying to contact the girls, after police were called to Ryde's St Thomas's Square - near The Crown pub - at around 8.55pm, on May 19.

The force says it understands inappropriate and sexualised comments were made to the teenagers, aged around 15 or 16 years-old.

Officers want to speak to them, to find out more about what happened.

Hampshire Constabulary said: "We take incidents of this nature seriously and want to reassure the public that even in circumstances where no criminal allegation has been reported we still seek to challenge and take appropriate action against people who perpetrate this type of behaviour.

"We continue to encourage anyone who has experienced this type of behaviour, or any suspicious incidents in their neighbourhood, to contact police."
