YARMOUTH lifeboat was launched this morning to assist a 28ft motor boat which had lost power south West of The Needles.

Volunteer RNLI crew went to the aid of the vessel, which was left drifting after its engine had failed, at 10.12am.

With ten-15 knots of westerly wind against the receding tide, conditions were unpleasant for the two people on board - resulting in them suffering from sea sickness.

An RNLI crew member climbed onto the disabled vessel to assess the situation, and the decision was made to tow the boat to Yarmouth.

Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat returned at 12.30pm.
