ISLE of Wight magistrates have issued a warrant for the arrest of a Newport woman who failed to turn up before them for a second time on a shoplifting charge.
Jessica Vela, of Wellesley Way, was due to face a charge of the theft of food and other household items, worth £75, from B&M supermarket, Newport, on April 1, at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court today (Tuesday).
The 32-year-old had her previous hearing at the same venue on May 17 adjourned — giving her the benefit of doubt over childcare issues.
Magistrates today issued a bench warrant, without bail, saying it was important the case was not held up any longer.
