A SHANKLIN man has been accused of telling a man in a phone message he had been convicted twice of attempted murder, knew where he lived and was going to kill him and his family.

David Sanders, of The Rogers, denied sending Michael Pilbeam a voicemail, conveying a threatening message for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety, in Ryde, on May 12, when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

The 45-year-old, who chose to have his case dealt with my Island magistrates, rather than by a jury, was bailed to reappear at the same venue on August 4.

The trial is predicted to last four hours.
