AN EAST Cowes alleyway has been cordoned off in connection with an alleged sexual assault involving a teenager and a man in his 20s this morning (Monday).

Police were called at 8.08am to a report that a 13-year-old girl has been 'inappropriately touched' by a man in his 20s, who she did not know.

It was originally believed the incident happened on Medina Road in Cowes, near the floating bridge, but police say the incident is now believed to have happened on a path between Hendy Road and Vereker Drive in East Cowes.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: "An investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened and officers remain in the area to carry out enquiries."
