To commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, an exhibition has opened at the Beckford Centre in Cowes, featuring the Queen's five official visits to the Isle of Wight over her reign.
Among visits covered by the display are the Queen’s investiture of the late Lord Louis Mountbatten as Governor of the Isle of Wight at Carisbrooke Castle in 1965, and her last Island visit in 2012 when she came to Cowes as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour of the United Kingdom.
Last night, the display - and the newly extended centre - was officially opened by the Isle of Wight’s Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Susie Sheldon — the Queen’s representative on the Island.
