TWO wanted men have been arrested following a large police presence in Sandown this lunchtime (Tuesday, May 17).

Police were responding to information that two wanted males from Surrey were on the Isle of Wight.

Isle of Wight Police sent its Neighbourhoods Officers to the Esplanade to locate and detain them.

A 27-year-old man and a 30-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and remain in police custody at this time.

Sgt Sharland, Isle of Wight Police, said: “Those looking to come to the Isle of Wight to commit crime should think twice - you're not welcome, we will find you and even help you leave!

“Thank you to the public for your understanding whilst we caused some disruption to traffic flow on the Esplanade to effect these arrests.”
