EMERGENCY service teams are responding to a crash in Luccombe this evening (Wednesday). 

A motorcyclist is understood to have been involved in a single-vehicle collision. 

Among those called to the scene on Cowleaze Hill was a fire crew from Shanklin. 

A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said the casualty was in the care of paramedics on arrival and the crew worked to clear leaking petrol. 

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was also in attendance, landing in a field nearby.

A County Press reader said the casualty was taken to St Mary's Hospital for treatment. 

The road remains open.
