A MURDER investigation has been launched following the death of a man at an address in Shanklin.

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder, police confirmed today, following the incident in St John's Road.

Police were called at 10.11pm last night (Monday) to reports of an altercation at the address.

Inside, two men had suffered serious injuries.

A man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

A 29-year-old woman, a 52-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man, all from the Isle of Wight, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Both women remain in custody, and the 36-year-old man is currently being treated in hospital for injuries sustained during the incident.

Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

Supt Jim Pegler said: “I know that this incident will be a shock to the local community. I would like to reassure people that there are no wider risks to the public, and we believe this is an isolated and contained incident.

“Detective Chief Inspector Ross Toms has been appointed as the senior investigating officer and he will lead a thorough investigation to establish what has happened, involving specialist officers from Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
