YARMOUTH businesses took part in duck design competitions and the Easter duck race on Saturday (April 16), held by volunteers at the Yarmouth Carnival Committee.

The winner of the best-decorated duck competition went to On The Rocks, who narrowly grabbed the win against fierce competition from The George Hotel.

A competition was also held with Shalfleet and Yarmouth Primary Schools, where students designed their own duck.

Congratulations to the two young winners:

  • Freddie, 8, from Shalfleet, with his duck Jack.
  • Freddie, 7, from Yarmouth, with his duck Percy.

Saturday also saw the return of the Yarmouth Easter Duck Race, with plenty of spectators enjoying the event.

A spokesperson from Yarmouth Carnival Committee said: “Thank you to everyone who came along to support us, Yarmouth Sailing Club for hosting and all of our volunteers who made it happen.”

The winner of the corporate race was Yarmouth Barbers and Connoisseurs. Yarmouth Pharmacy clinched second.
