AN UPDATED list of donations still required for Ukrainian families has been released on the ‘Isle of Wight community help for Ukraine’ Facebook group today (Monday).

The heart-rending scenes from Ukraine have brought out the best in the Island.

It has been heart-warming to be taking in the hundreds of donations at the County Press offices, to be writing the stories of schoolkids donning the blue and yellow of Ukraine for mufti days or hearing of the tremendous aid effort co-ordinated through MAD-Aid in East Cowes.

Here is the latest list of donations still required:

FOOD:

  • Tinned food (fish, meat, vegetables)
  • Any products of long-term storage
  • Cereals, porridge
  • Pasta
  • Fast food (couscous, soups, noodles, cereals, porridge)
  • Energy bars (protein, sneakers)
  • Dried fruits, nuts, snacks
  • Baby food (mixes, purees, powdered milk)
  • Animal food

MEDICINE:

  • First aid kits
  • Analgesic (nurofen, ibuprofen, etc)
  • Analgesic ointment
  • Ointment for pain in muscles and joints
  • Medication for pressure
  • Heart medication
  • Medicine for allergies
  • Medicines to lower blood sugar
  • Antidepressants, sedatives
  • Antipyretic, anti-cold
  • Cough syrups and lozenges
  • Spray for colds
  • Medication for cystitis
  • Ointment and candles for hemorrhoids
  • Ointment and sprays from the fungus
  • Ointment and sprays against insect bites
  • Children's medicines and creams

CLOTHING:

  • Army boots or hiking boots
  • New underwear, especially for men
  • Men's and women's thermal underwear
  • Socks of different sizes
  • Balaclavas
  • Rubber slippers

OTHER:

  • Old but working phones
  • Powerful power banks
  • Chargers and adapters for sockets from UK to UA
  • Batteries, accumulators
  • Flashlights of different modifications
  • Simple candles, matches, lighters
  • Tourist utensils (tiles, stoves, pots, etc)
  • Flasks

HYGIENE:

  • Razors and shaving gels
  • Sanitisers
  • Soap
  • Shampoo, shower gel
  • Deodorants
  • Wet wipes, cotton pads, ear sticks
  • Manicure sets (nippers, nail files)
