Whether it is beavers or gollies, the floating bridge or the ferry services, Islanders are never far away from an argument.

But when push comes to shove there can be few kinder communities in the country.

The heart-rending scenes from Ukraine have brought out the best in the Wight.

It has been heartwarming to be taking in the hundreds of donations at the County Press offices, to be writing the stories of schoolkids donning the blue and yellow of Ukraine for Mufti days or hearing of the tremendous aid effort co-ordinated through MAD-Aid in East Cowes.

Three weeks ago, the CP had a front page dedicated to the IW efforts to help the citizens of Ukraine.

Today it might look like we are repeating the cover...but we are not.

The front page gives you details of a fund to collect cash for the country.

We are joining forces with a single Justgiving appeal across all Newsquest's news titles, allowing readers to contribute to this worthwhile cause.

Isle of Wight County Press: The County Press front page from March 4.

At the same time, don’t forget MAD-Aid’s appeal to help it continue its great work.

We will also continue to shine a light on all the amazing work being carried out across our communities to help Ukrainians in their hour of need and encourage you all to let us know of your efforts.

Look out for the There With Ukraine poster in this week's County Press print edition, which we’re hoping readers will display to show their support for the campaign.

And if you do display it in your home, business, pub or whatever, please send us a picture of you with it to editor@iwcp.co.uk
